Shinjuku station is the terminal station with the most commuters per day in Japan. Around the station area, there are big department stores such as Odakyu, Isetan and HALC. The area is also full of computer shops such as Big Camera, and Sakuraya. Tokyo Metropolitan City Hall is also close by and you can have a sweeping view of the city free of charge from the observatory tower on its 45th floor. If you go to the east exit, you will also find many internet cafe, department stores and big book shops so you don't have to worry about shopping or dining at all.
